Reliable Earthing Components for Electrical Safety | Shah Infra Towers

An essential component of electrical infrastructure, earthing (or grounding) ensures equipment protection, safety, and efficient fault current dissipation. A wide variety of earthing components designed for strong and dependable electrical grounding solutions are also available from Shah Infra Towers, acknowledged leaders in the production and distribution of premium steel structures with hot dip galvanizing.

1. MS Flat (Mild Steel Flat)

Description:
MS Flat is a widely preferred earthing conductor and one of the essential earthing components, known for its excellent electrical conductivity, robust mechanical strength, and ease of installation. Shah Infra Towers supplies precision-cut MS Flats. These flats meet the stringent specifications laid down by State Electricity Boards, power utilities, and renewable energy projects such as solar and wind farms.

Specifications and Sizes:
We offer a comprehensive range of MS Earthing strips, including both plain and galvanized flats, in the following regular sizes: 25×3/5/6 mm, 32×5/6 mm, 40×5/6 mm, 50×5/6/8/10 mm, 65×5/6/8/10 mm, 75×6/8/10/12 mm, and 100×8/10/12 mm. We can also manufacture custom sizes to meet specific client requirements.

Applications:

  • Primary grounding conductors in EHV substations and transmission lines across various voltage classes.
  • Earthing solutions for electrical panels, switchgear, and industrial installations.
  • Effective in establishing low-resistance grounding paths for commercial and infrastructure projects, including solar and wind energy installations.

2. GI Flat (Galvanized Iron Flat)

Description:
GI Flat combines the robust mechanical strength of mild steel with a protective zinc coating applied through hot dip galvanization, which prevents rust and significantly extends the material’s lifespan – especially in harsh, corrosive environments. The galvanizing process conforms to industry standards such as IS: 2633, 2629, and 4759, and can be customized to meet specific client requirements.

Uses:

  • Widely employed in outdoor earthing systems exposed to weather and moisture.
  • Essential for lightning protection earthing conductors.
  • Ideal for EHV substations, transmission lines of various voltage classes, telecom towers, railways, and intelligent building lightning protection systems.

Hot dip galvanized flats (GI flats or strips) from Shah Infra Towers are engineered as essential earthing components for high-performance earthing applications in critical infrastructure, ensuring reliable grounding and long-lasting corrosion resistance.

3. CI Pipes (Cast Iron Pipes)

The main purpose of CI pipes is to provide a low-resistance earth channel by driving them vertically into the ground as earthing electrodes. They are ideal for long-term underground grounding solutions since their sturdy gray cast iron design not only guarantees outstanding longevity but also ensures excellent earth contact, especially in soils with low conductivity.

Cast iron pipes are also used as pressure pipes at EHV substations to transport the water and sewage needed for earthing systems. Shah Infra Towers provides CI pipes that meet the following specifications: 2.75 meters in length, 100 mm internal diameter, and 13 mm thickness. Following established procedures and being tailored to the needs of the customer, each pipe is fastened using a two-part clamp constructed from continuously welded GI Flat (50×6 mm) using cast iron welding electrodes.

Uses:

  • Earth electrode in low conductivity soils
  • Foundation earthing for high-voltage installations
  • Long-term underground grounding solutions
  • Pressure pipes for water and sewage transmission in EHV substations

4. GI Pipes (Galvanized Iron Pipes)

Description:
GI Pipes serve as versatile and durable earthing components and electrodes, offering a reliable and consistent path to ground – essential for effective fault current dissipation. The galvanization process enhances corrosion resistance, making them suitable for long-term use in challenging environmental conditions.

Shah Infra Towers supplies all types of GI Pipes used across multiple applications including earthing, shipbuilding, irrigation, and more. For electrical grounding specifically, we fabricate and supply GI Pipes for Transmission Line Tower Earthing as per customer drawings and standard specifications.

Uses:

  • Vertical earthing electrodes in electrical substations and telecom towers.
  • Grounding for transformer tanks, switchyards, and electrical enclosures.
  • Ideal for earthing systems in soil with moderate resistivity.
  • Custom-fabricated GI Pipes for tower earthing, typically 40 mm diameter and 3-meter length.
